-SPIKES CONTINUE SERIES VS. SCRAPPERS TONIGHT: The State College Spikes are in the midst of stretch of six straight home games, and tonight they face the Mahoning Valley Scrappers in the middle game of a three-game set at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. The Spikes are currently 1 1/2 games back of Jamestown in the Pinckney Division. The two teams split a pair of games at Eastwood Field last week in their first series of the year. Mahoning Valley leads the all-time series, 38-35, but State College has taken 22 of the 36 contests held between the two teams and Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

-LAST GAME: The Spikes spotted Mahoning Valley a 3-0 lead, but brought forth an offensive deluge that included Alex De Leon's first professional home run to sink the Scrappers, 12-3, on Sunday night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. All three of Mahoning Valley's runs came in the third inning, but State College would score in every frame after the fourth, including multiple runs in every inning from the fifth onward. De Leon, the Cardinals' 23rd-round draft choice out of the University of Kansas this year, then smashed a 1-2 pitch to the Pepsi Picnic Pavilion in left field for a two-run shot off Mahoning Valley reliever Harold Guerrero in the sixth to extend the margin to 6-3.

O'Shea earned the win in each of his first two outings before taking a loss on Tuesday against Williamsport at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. In his last start, the Reading, MA native went five innings and allowed four runs on six hits, one walk and one hit batsman while striking out three. The southpaw was drafted by the Cardinals out of the University of Tampa in the 35th round in 2012.

-HAMRICK HEADS TO HILL FOR SCRAPPERS: Right-hander Caleb Hamrick gets the ball for Mahoning Valley tonight in his fifth start of the year. Hamrick is coming off of two tough outings in which he has allowed seven runs each time. The Cedar Hill, TX native, who was taken out of high school in the 8th round of last year's draft by the Indians, gave up a septet of runs to Williamsport (five earned) on June 28 and yielded another seven (six of them earned) to Jamestown over 4 2/3 innings on Wednesday.
