Aberdeen IronBirds News Release

Troy, NY- Another Monday night road game went to extra innings, as the Aberdeen IronBirds fell in 12 innings, 2-1 to the host Tri-City ValleyCats. Jose Figuereo took the loss, as the IronBirds fell to 11-10 on the season.

Tri-City got on the board first in the fourth inning. Back-to-back singles from Tony Kemp and James Ramsey put runners on first and second with no outs. After a Luis Alvarez sacrifice bunt, the ValleyCats used a sacrifice fly to score Kemp and it was 1-0 Tri-City.

The IronBirds would even things up in the sixth. Mike Yastrzemski hit a one out single. He would reach third after Conor Bierfeldt was safe on an error charged to Tri-City first baseman Michael Martinez. The next batter, Manny Hernandez, singled to left, scoring Yastrzemski easily, and the ball game was tied.

It would stay that way until the 12th. After a D'Andre Toney strikeout, Ryan Dineen hit a home run deep to right field off of Jose Figuereo, giving the ValleyCats the walk off win.

Figuereo took the loss, falling to 0-1 on the season. Richard Rodriguez got the win, improving to 2-0.

The IronBirds and ValleyCats will wrap up their three game series with an 11 a.m. matinee tomorrow morning. The IronBirds will send Janser Severino to the hill. He will oppose number one overall draft pick Mark Appel.
