Jammers Streak at 5 After 10-3 Victory

July 8, 2013 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
Jamestown Jammers News Release

Jamestown, NY- The Jammers carried their offensive prowess over to their commuter series with Batavia on Sunday afternoon at Diethrick Park. A day after putting up 29 runs on the scoreboard, the Jammers would battle back from an early 2-0 deficit to pull off a 10-3 win against the Muckdogs.

The Muckdogs would plate the games first runs in the opening frame as Avery Romero drove a Jackson Lodge pitch up the middle and would score Austin Dean and Felix Munoz. Romero would end the inning as he tried to stretch his RBI single into a double.

Jamestown would only cash in one time against Muckdogs starter Max Garner as Beau Wallace scored from third on a line drive single by Jeff Roy to get the Jammers within one run. The run would go unearned as Wallace reached on a throwing error by Batavia short-stop Justin Bohn.

Lodge would settle in after giving up two runs in the first inning and go on to string up zeros over the next five innings of work. Jamestown would capitalize on the exit of Garner from the game in the bottom of the fifth inning as former Jammer James Wooster entered in a relief role to hold the score for Batavia.

Trailing 2-1 the Jammers would begin their rally with back-to-back bunt singles by Roy and Adam Frasier to kick off the inning. Both runners would advance a base on the bunt by Frasier as the Muckdogs left second and third base unmanned. JaCoby Jones would tie things up for the Jammers at 2-2 by driving in Roy off a single to center-field.

A mental miscue from Wooster would give the Jammers their first lead of the night as he was charged with a "Balk" with runners on the corners and giving Jamestown a 3-2 lead. Danny Collins would drive in the eventual game winning run two batters later as he picked up his 15th RBI of the season scoring Jones from third to make it a 4-2 ballgame.

Jamestown would plate eight runs total in the inning when all was set and done thus opening a comfortable 9-2 advantage. The Jammers would bat around in the inning as Roy picked up two of his three hits on the night in the frame. Lodge handed things over to his bullpen in the seventh inning as Brett McKinney entered looking to hold the Jammers lead. Batavia would muster one run against McKinney in the eighth inning to make it a 10-3 ballgame. Kurt Yacko closed things out for Jamestown as he worked a clean ninth inning securing the win and fifth in a row for the Jammers.

The Jammers continue their commuter series with the Muckdogs tomorrow at 5:00 p.m. as they will resume a game from June 27th with Batavia leading 4-0. The teams will follow with a seven inning game approximately 30 mintues after the first game. The Jammers will finish off the series with Batavia at home on Tuesday, July 9th as it will be Dollar Night at the ballpark.
