State College Spikes News Release
(STATE COLLEGE, PA) - The State College Spikes are proud to once again salute retired and active United States Military personnel on Military Appreciation Night this Sunday, July 17 at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. A variety of tributes, a special ticket offer, and a patriotic post-game FIREWORKS show presented by Your Building Centers will all be part of the night's program.
The Spikes will take the field against the Williamsport Crosscutters (Philadelphia Phillies) at 6:05 p.m. on Sunday, and all fans showing a valid United States Military ID at the Medlar Field at Lubrano Park Box Office will get the best available seat in the ballpark for just $1. In addition, guests of fans showing Military ID will be able to purchase their seats at half-price.
An array of pre-game activities and tributes will also take place before the game, as several future soldiers from the State College area take their oaths and are sworn into service in the United States Army on the field. Plus, representatives from the various branches of the U.S. Armed Forces will be on the concourse as well to answer questions about becoming a member of the U.S. Military. Fans will also enjoy the presence of Military vehicles such as the Stryker Armored Personnel Carrier on the concourse during the game, where the flags of all 50 United States will be proudly displayed.
Prior to the game, the Spikes will also receive the Seven Seals Award from Employers Supporting the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) in a special ceremony. The Seven Seals Award recognizes individuals, employers or supportive organizations that provide support to the ESGR committee and its mission or have demonstrated meritorious leadership and initiative in support of the men and women who serve America in the National Guard and Reserve.
Military support groups such as Soldier's Angels will be on hand during the game as well to inform fans on how to support our American servicemen and servicewomen around the world.
The Spikes will also hold a moment of silence prior to the National Anthem to honor those brave men and women who have lost their lives defending our nation.
After the game, the skies over Happy Valley will light up with a patriotic FIREWORKS show, presented by Your Building Centers.
The very special evening begins when gates open to the general public at 5 p.m., and fans can play catch on the field as part of Summer Blast-Off Sunday beginning at that time. Kids 12 and under can also run the bases after the game, thanks to Clinical Outcomes Group, Inc.
Military Appreciation Night kicks off a two-game homestand for the Spikes, who will host the Crosscutters again on Monday, July 18 at 7:05 p.m. Fans can feat on $1 hot dogs throughout Monday's game on Dollar Dog Monday, presented by 95.3 FM 3WZ. Monday will also be the Night of Wizardry at the ballpark, celebrating great wizards such as Harry Potter, Merlin and from the Washington, D.C. branch of the wizard family, John Wall.
The Spikes will also offer fans attending the Central PA Festival of the Arts a special ticket offer for both games in the homestand, too. Show your Arts Fest button at the Medlar Field at Lubrano Park Ticket Office to receive a $2 discount on any seat in the park for Sunday and Monday's games.
Tickets for both games, as well as every Spikes regular season home game, are currently on sale through the Spikes Box Office by calling (814) 272-1711 or by visiting in person. Fans can also buy and print single-game tickets by visiting StateCollegeSpikes.com.
Businesses, church groups, sports teams or any other group of 20 or more people can also take advantage of the "20 for $200 Special." The "20 for $200 Special" offers a Field Box ticket, hot dog and small soda to each member of the group for just $10 per person. Plus, when your group reserves this special package, the group can designate one person to throw out a pre-game ceremonial first pitch from the mound and the group will be announced on the video board during the game.
Half-Season Tickets are now also available for as low as $110 per seat. Fans can treat family, friends, clients, and employees to exclusive seats for all Spikes home games starting July 30. Half-Season Ticket holders will also receive all the same benefits and experiences of a Full Season Ticket holder for the remainder of the season.
