Brooklyn, NY -- The Brooklyn Cyclones (14-13) defeated the Auburn Doubledays (15-13) by a score of 10-4 in the series finale on Friday night. The Cyclones tagged the opposition for a whopping 14 hits. The offense was lead by Richard Lucas and Danny Muno, who reached base in all of their plate appearances. Lucas was 4-for-4 with a walk, a run, an RBI, and a triple and Muno was 3-for-3 with a walk, three runs, two RBI, and a double. Starter Carlos Vazquez (2-2, 2.43) picked up the win after tossing 5.0 innings of one-run ball and striking out four. Wirkin Estevez (2-2, 4.88) was saddled with the loss after Brooklyn tagged him for 10 hits and eight runs - four earned - in his 4.0 innings of work.

The Cyclones offense got going early, stringing together three hits in the bottom of the first. Muno led off the inning by roping a line drive to right, but was gunned out at second base attempting to stretch his single into a double. However, Cole Frenzel picked his teammate up by putting himself on second after his line drive single was misplayed by the left fielder. With two outs, Lucas picked up his 10th RBI of the season by singling through the left side to plate Frenzel.

Three costly errors by Auburn allowed Brooklyn to take a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the second. The Cyclones victimized the Doubledays' third baseman and shortstop, picking up two infield hits and forcing two throwing errors and a fielding error from the left side of the infield. Muno drove in two of Brooklyn's three runs on a double off the left field wall. He then came around to score the third run of the inning on one of the shortstop's two errors in the inning.

After leading off the bottom of the third with his first triple of 2011, Lucas took scored on a wild pitch to give Brooklyn a 5-0 lead.

Dominated by Vazquez, Auburn didn't notch their first hit of the game until the fourth inning. After retiring the first 11 batters he faced, Vazquez yielded a double to Matt Skole, Washington's 2011 fifth rounder. The Doubledays got on the board immediately after, plating Skole on a line drive single to cut Brooklyn's lead to four runs.

However, the Cyclones got that run back and more in the bottom of the frame. Jonathan Clark drew a walk to leadoff to lead off the inning and was moved over to third on Muno's third hit of the game - a single. With runners on the corners, Frenzel put the Cyclones up 6-1 with a sacrifice fly, but the rally wasn't over. After Brooklyn quickly loaded the bases, Charley Thurber hit a high-chopper to the third baseman, who fielded the groundball over his shoulder, turned, and fired the ball wide of first base. Two runs scored on the play to give the Cyclones an 8-1 lead.

Vazquez's night came to an end after the lefty tossed a scoreless fifth inning.

Todd Weldon, who came on in relief, worked a perfect sixth inning, thanks in part to Clark's leaping catch against the left center field wall to rob Auburn of an extra base hit.

Brooklyn's bats weren't finished wreaking havoc in the bottom of the sixth as they struck for two more runs. After Muno led off the inning with a walk to reach base for the fourth consecutive time, he was moved over to second with the plunking of Frenzel, and then brought around to score on a single by Javier Rodriguez. Lucas' ensuing single plated Frenzel, but he was not credited with the RBI as the run was caused by the right fielder misplaying the base hit.

After relievers Cory Mazzoni and T.J. Chism combined to toss scoreless seventh and eighth innings, Lucas singled to pick up his fourth hit of the game. The single marked the fifth consecutive time the Florida native reached base.

Auburn rallied for three runs in the top of the ninth, but it proved to be too little, too late. The 10-4 victory put the Cyclones back over .500.

The Cyclones return to action at MCU Park against the Lowell Spinners tomorrow, Saturday, July 16th at 6 p.m. RHP Jeff Walters (1-2, 3.04) will oppose RHP Raynel Velette (0-0, 4.95).
