Mahoning Valley Scrappers News Release
Niles, Ohio - The Scrappers are honored to take part in the "Road to Ground Zero" Flag Tour on Wednesday, July 20. The tour provides Americans the opportunity to honor, view, and even touch the Ground Zero Flag as it makes its way back to New York for the 10th Anniversary of 9/11.
The Ground Zero Flag is to be presented during the National Anthem prior to the Scrappers game versus the State College Spikes, and displayed in the main concourse at Eastwood Field during the game. While on display, fans are able to view and touch the flag.
The "Road to Ground Zero" Flag Tour is lead by Heroes of the Diamond, which was founded in 1990 by President George H.W. Bush. Heroes of the Diamond consist of members from every military branch. Their mission is "to promote the awareness of all Americans in support of the honorable sacrifices our Armed Forces and First Responders make at the Tip of the Spear."
The Scrappers Wednesday game versus the Spikes is also Military Night presented by Miller High Life and 95.9 KISS FM WAKZ. Fans presenting Military ID at the box office receive two free box seat tickets for the game.
