-SPIKES FINISH UP IN BIG APPLE TONIGHT: The State College Spikes finish their three-game series with the Staten Island Yankees, owners of the New York-Penn League's best record, tonight at Richmond County Bank Ballpark. The Spikes will look for their first win against the Yankees in Staten Island since 2007. Staten Island leads the all-time series, 12-4.

-LAST GAME: In a back-and-forth battle, the State College Spikes took advantage of early wildness by Staten Island Yankees pitching, but the Yankees landed the last blow to take a 6-4 win Thursday at Richmond County Bank Ballpark. State College responded with its first bases-loaded hit of the year to tie the game in the second inning, as Matt Skirving singled to center to bring in a pair and make it 2-2. Skirving collected two hits, two RBI, and two stolen bases in the game.

-JEFFERSON MAKES START FOR SPIKES: Left-hander Mike Jefferson gets the ball for State College tonight. Jefferson went a career-long four innings in his last start, allowing just two hits while hitting one batter and striking out three in a scoreless outing. Jefferson has not allowed a run in his last 7 2/3 innings after yielding six in his pro debut. The Louisiana Tech alum picked up his first pro win on July 2 in relief against Auburn.

-YANKEES SEND OUT RODRIGUEZ: Staten Island right-hander Wilton Rodriguez finishes up the series for Staten Island with his start tonight. Rodriguez is making his sixth appearance and fifth start. Last time out, the Dominican allowed four runs on six hits and a walk while notching four strikeouts over three innings in a loss to Vermont. Rodriguez is in his third year in the Yankees system, and made nine appearances at Single-A Charleston this year.

-DICKERSON JOINS SPIKES TODAY: Alex Dickerson, the third-round draft pick of the Pirates in 2011, joins the Spikes roster today. Dickerson won the Big Ten Triple Crown in 2010.
