Aberdeen IronBirds News Release

Aberdeen, MD - The Baltimore Orioles announced today that former fifth overall pick right-handed pitcher Matt Hobgood and right-handed pitcher Ryan Berry will begin rehab assignments with the Aberdeen IronBirds.

Baltimore drafted Hobgood in the first-round of the 2009 draft. He spent all of the 2010 season with the Class-A Delmarva Shorebirds, where he went 3-7 with a 4.40 ERA in 21 starts. Hobgood is recovering from a strained rotator cuff.

Berry was selected by the Orioles in the ninth round of the 2009 draft. Ranked by Baseball America as the ninth-best prospect in the Baltimore system, Berry is coming off a stellar first professional season. Splitting time with Delmarva and the Advanced-A Frederick Keys, Berry went 2-5 with a 3.22 ERA. Berry has missed time with shoulder tendinitis.

Hobgood is expected to start Saturday night's game at the Vermont Lake Monsters. Berry is expected to pitch as well that night after Hobgood comes out of the game. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 PM.

The Aberdeen IronBirds sold out season tickets for the 10th straight season. Group packages and single-game tickets, however, are still available for the 2011 season. For ticket information, contact our box office at (410) 297-9292 or visit us online at www.IronBirdsbaseball.com.
