Montgomery Biscuits News Release
MARIETTA, Ga. -- The Southern League of Professional Baseball Clubs has announced the South Division roster for the MAX 2006 Southern League All-Star Game set for Monday, July 10 at Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium.
The roster includes four members of the Montgomery Biscuits: pitcher Jim Magrane, catcher Ryan Christianson, second baseman Elliot Johnson and third baseman Wes Bankston. Magrane (9-6, 3.26) is presently tied for the Southern League lead in wins, while Christianson is second in the SL with 13 home runs and leads the Biscuits with 31 runs batted in. Johnson sets the pace for Montgomery in such categories as hits (80), runs scored (39), triples (7), slugging percentage (.480) and total bases (135). Bankston (.288 batting average) is one of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays' top hitting prospects, though he missed a large part of the season's first half with a strained oblique.
A fifth Biscuit, closer Juan Salas, was selected to play in the All-Star Game, but was replaced because of a recent promotion to Class AAA Durham.
