Zebulon, N.C. - The Jacksonville Suns scored five runs in the fifth inning, including Craig Brazell's 12th homerun of the season, as they defeated the Carolina Mudcats by the score of 7-2 in the final game of the series at Five County Stadium.

Suns starter Alvis Ojeda and Carolina starter Adam Bostick engaged in a pitcher's duel in the first four innings by allowing only one hit a piece through that period.

Jacksonville finally got on the board first in the top of the fifth as the Suns A.J. Ellis scored on an error by Carolina shortstop Rex Rundgren to make it 1-0. Wilkin Ruan later grounded out to drive home another and increase the lead to 2-0. With two on and two out, Craig Brazell then belted a homerun to the right of centerfield, his 12th homer of the year that increased his Southern League-leading RBI total to 53 and increased the Suns lead to 5-0.

Carolina got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth inning as Frank Moore doubled home Rex Rundgren to cut the Suns lead to 5-1.

The teams traded runs in the eighth before Jacksonville added an insurance run in the ninth inning to finish the scoring at 7-2.

Ojeda improved to 5-2 in the victory while Bostick fell to 5-5 in the loss for Carolina.

The Suns travel to Chattanooga to begin a battle of first half division champions with a 7:15 opening pitch on Thursday at BellSouth Park. RHP T.J. Nall will face Chattanooga RHP Josh Hall. Fans can follow the action on AM 930 The Fox or online at jaxsuns.com or milb.com.
