Jacksonville, FLA - The Southern League released the South Division roster for the upcoming Southern League All-Star Game in Montgomery, Alabama, with the Jacksonville Suns receiving nine spots on the squad.

The 2006 Southern League All-Star Game will be held on Monday, July 10 at Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery, Alabama, the home of the Montgomery Biscuits. The game will feature a wealth of top prospects and future major league talent and will pit the South Division against the North Division.

With nine selections, the Suns are by far the most-well represented team on the South Division squad and will be joined by the Birmingham Barons, Mississippi Braves, Mobile BayBears and Montgomery Biscuits.

Three Suns infielders were named to the team. First baseman Craig Brazell, a major league veteran, joins the lethal middle-infield combination of second baseman Tony Abreu and shortstop Chin-Lung Hu, who have nearly eclipsed the Suns team mark for double plays in a season already this year.

In the outfield, Wilkin Ruan and Justin Ruggiano earned bids to the All-Star Game. Ruan is in his third season as a member of the Suns while Ruggiano joined the club midway through 2005 and was a key member of the championship team from last year.

On the mound, the Suns will also be well represented with four pitchers scheduled to make the trip to Montgomery. Starting pitchers Heath Totten and TJ Nall are on the squad, along with the Dodgers' Minor League Pitcher of the Month for May, Casey Hoorelbeke, and closer Mark Alexander.

Four other Suns were named to the team, but will be unable to participate due to promotions. Catcher Brad Cresse is on the disabled list for an indefinite amount of time, while third baseman Andy LaRoche and pitchers Joel Hanrahan and Spike Lundberg have all received promotions to Triple-A Las Vegas.

The Suns are currently on a long road trip to Carolina and Chattanooga and will return home on Tuesday, July 4 to host the Carolina Mudcats for five games before the All-Star Break.

Tickets to the Suns next homestand and all regular season games are available online at www.jaxsuns.com or by calling 904-358-2846.
