South Tops North in Girl's All-Star Game

Austin, TX - The South defeated the North 53-41 in the 2011 Dennis Johnson Memorial Girls' High School All Star Game Saturday at the Cedar Park Center. The South was led in scoring by Tierany Henderson and Vannessa Winston who both scored 11 points. The North was led by Kathryn Tolbert who led all scorers with 12 points.

In the first quarter the South took a three-point lead with the help of a long three pointer by Akins's Danielle Lofton. The North battled back midway through the second quarter with strong play of Hendrickson's Kathryn Tolbert, but the South managed to keep their lead and led the North 24-20 at halftime.

The North started the third quarter strong with four quick points by Jasmine Sborov, but once again the South would not relinquish their lead. Lofton and her Akins teammate Vannessa Winston helped the South stretch their lead to 11 by scoring the last six points for south. The South led 39-28 at the end of the third. The North made a final run at the lead by tightening their defense but the South's lead proved to be too much to overcome. The South All Stars defeated the North All Stars 53-41.
