Tulsa 66ers News Release
TULSA, Okla., April 3, 2011- The Tulsa 66ers will face the Texas Legends in the first round of the 2011 D-League Playoffs, it was announced today by the League Office.
The first game of the best-of-three series is scheduled for this Wednesday, April 6, in Frisco, Texas, at 7 p.m. inside Dr. Pepper Arena. Tulsa will host game two on Friday, April 8, at 7 p.m. inside the Tulsa Convention Center. If necessary, game three will be played Sunday, April 10, in Tulsa at 7 p.m.
"Texas is a team that we know well and they know us well after playing eight times in the regular season," 66ers head coach Nate Tibbetts said. "They are playing as good as anyone in our league right now and we expect it to be a great matchup."
Fourth-seeded Tulsa, who finished the 2010-11 season with a 33-17 overall record, tallied a 5-3 mark against Texas this season. The eighth-seeded Legends finished with a 24-26 overall record and enter the playoffs winning four of their past five games.
Other playoff matchups include the top-seed Iowa Energy against seventh-seeded Utah Flash, the second-seed Reno Bighorns against the fifth-seeded Erie BayHawks and the third-seed Rio Grande Valley Vipers against the sixth-seeded Bakersfield Jam.
Tulsa's 33 regular season wins marked a 66ers team record for victories in a campaign. It marks the second consecutive season the 66ers have earned a trip to the postseason. Last season, Tulsa reached the D-League finals against Rio Grande Valley.
"The postseason is another opportunity for our guys to get better" Tibbetts said. "Our daily routines won't change and we will continue to focus on improving both individually and as a team in the playoffs."
Tulsa fans can enjoy a postseason ticket special that includes a sideline ticket, hot dog and 16 oz. soda for just $11 for both games played inside the Tulsa Convention Center. For more information call the 66ers business office at (918) 585-8444 or log onto Tulsa66ers.com.
