NBA DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE PLAYOFFS: FIRST-ROUND SELECTIONS TODAY

For the third consecutive year, the top three seeds in the NBA D-League Playoffs will choose their first-round opponents. The top-seeded Iowa Energy, the No. 2-seeded Reno Bighorns and No. 3-seeded Rio Grande Valley Vipers will pick their opponents, in that respective order, from the fifth-through-eighth-seeded playoff teams today at 3 p.m. ET. The remaining fifth-through-eighth-seeded team that is not selected will play the fourth-seeded Tulsa 66ers. The NBA D-League Playoffs consist of three rounds, each a best-of-three series with the lower-seeded team hosting the first game, and the higher seed hosting the second and third games (if necessary).

SAN ANTONIO SPURS ASSIGN GREEN TO NBA D-LEAGUE AFFILIATE AUSTIN TOROS

San Antonio Spurs guard Danny Green was assigned to the Austin Toros, San Antonio's NBA Development League affiliate, it was announced yesterday. The assignment marks the 53rd time in the 2010-11 season an NBA player has been assigned to an NBA D-League affiliate, and it is the second assignment for Green, a second-year pro out of North Carolina. Green is the 37th NBA player to be assigned to the NBA D-League this season, extending an all-time high. Green's assignment also ties the previous record of 53 assignments in a season, set in 2007-08.

Blake Ahearn's 29 points and 10 assists led Erie past Maine. Tasmin Mitchell added 22 points for the BayHawks. DeShawn Sims had 33 points and 10 rebounds for Maine, while Stephane Lasme had 18 points and 12 rebounds.

Darnell Lazare tallied 30 points and 10 rebounds, and Chris Kramer added 25 points to lead Fort Wayne over Sioux Falls. Raymond Sykes led the Skyforce with 32 points.

Elijah Millsap scored 30 points, while Oklahoma City assignee Cole Aldrich had 13 points and 10 rebounds, leading Tulsa past Dakota. Mike Anderson led the Wizards with 20 points.

Jerel McNeal's 26 points, seven rebounds and five assists led Rio Grande Valley over Springfield. Philadelphia assignee Craig Brackins led the Armor with 24 points and eight rebounds. Rockets assignee Hasheem Thabeet had 13 points and eight rebounds for the Vipers.

Joe Alexander had 36 points and 15 rebounds, while Rashad McCants added 28 points to help Texas rally over Austin in double overtime to clinch the eighth and final playoff spot. Aubrey Coleman had 30 points and Leo Lyons had 24 points and 10 rebounds for the Toros. Sean Williams chipped in 19 points and 11 rebounds for the Legends.

Antoine Walker had 23 points and 10 rebounds, Carlos Wheeler had 21 points and 10 rebounds and Cedric Jackson tallied 16 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists, leading Idaho over Utah. Ryan Thompson led Utah with 16 points.

Moses Ehambe's 28 points and Curtis Stinson's 16 points and 13 assists led Iowa past New Mexico. Walter Sharpe paced the Thunderbirds with 25 points.

Marcus Landry scored 21 points to lead Reno over Bakersfield. Clippers assignee Willie Warren had 22 points for the Jam.

ALUMNI ACHIEVEMENTS: A look at NBA D-League Alumni in last night's NBA games:

24 players with NBA D-League experience competed in five NBA games last night, sixas starters.

Toronto's Ed Davis had 17 points and 11 rebounds in a loss to the Bulls.

Dallas' JJ Barea had 13 points and 11 assists in a loss to Golden State.

Minnesota's Martell Webster and Anthony Tolliver each scored 12 points in a loss to the Grizzlies.
