Oklahoma City Comets News Release
The Nashville Sounds scored two in the first and cruised to a 9-2 win over Oklahoma Wednesday at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. The Sounds added three runs in both the fourth and fifth and added one in the ninth to win the second game of a four-game series.
Oklahoma starter Doug Mathis (0-3) looked like he had settled down after giving up two runs in the first, but in the fourth Nashville catcher Vinny Rottino hit a three-run homer to give the Sounds a 5-1 lead. Mathis allowed eight earned runs on eight hits in five innings. Chris Oxspring (1-1) earned the win for the Sounds allowing one run on six hits over five innings.
With a 2-1 lead in the fourth, Nashville had two runners on with one out when Rottino drove the ball deep over the left field wall. The Sounds scored three more on three hits in the fifth and finished the game with 12 hits. The RedHawks went 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position and left 14 runners on base.
The same two teams will play Thursday night at 7:05 CDT at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark.
