TODAY'S OPPONENT:

The Nashville Sounds are the Triple-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. They have been a member of the Pacific Coast League since 1998. Last year, Nashville finished tied for first in the PCL's American North Division with a 76-68 record. The Sounds won division title by tie-breaker over Iowa

TODAY'S GAME:

Game 13 of the season, and second game of four-game series with Nashville.

LAST GAME:

RedHawks rallied for a 5-4 win over Sounds. RedHawks scored three runs in first to take early lead. Sounds scored four in the fifth to take a 4-3 lead. 'Hawks scored two in sixth to go up 5-4. Starter Mike Wood didn't figure in the decision allowing four runs in five innings. A.J. Murray (2-0) pitched two scoreless innings for the win, and Frank Francisco pitched a perfect ninth for his second save.

VS. NASHVILLE:

Nashville took two of three from the RedHawks last week in Nashville. The RedHawks won the series opener 7-2. The RedHawks hit .255 against Nashville in three games. The pitching staff had an ERA of 3.24 against Sound hitters coming into this series.

PITCHING MATCHUP:

Doug Mathis makes his second start of the season for RedHawks. Mathis last pitched out of the bullpen 4/12 at Nashville. He took the loss, allowing four runs (three earned) in 2.2 innings. Mathis lost his first start 4/6 at Memphis. Nashville sends Chris Oxspring to the mound.

ROSTER MOVES:

IF Kevin West promoted from Frisco, and IF Jose Morban released.

GOOD NIGHT WITH RISP:

The RedHawks went 4-for-11 with runners in scoring postion last night vs. Nashville. That is a season best for the RedHawks in a game. They are now hitting .170 (18-106) with runners in scoring position.

HEATING UP:

LF Jason Botts went 2-for-3 with a double yesterday. He is 4-for-7 in the last two games with an RBI. Five of Botts' nine hits this season have come with runners in scoring position.

RAMON VAZQUEZ:

RedHawks' second baseman Ramon Vazquez is 4-for-8 with an RBI, three doubles, and four runs scored in his last two games.

GETTING ON BASE:

CF Freddy Guzman has reached base in nine consecutive games by hit or walk. He went 4-for-13 (.308) with two runs against Memphis last weekend.

LEAGUE BEST: The

RedHawks' pitching staff leads the PCL with a 3.06 team ERA.

NO BULL IN PEN:

The RedHawks bullpen has been tough this season. Yesterday against Nashville the bullpen pitched four scoreless innings. The pen hasn't allowed a run in 14 consecutive innings, and has an overall ERA of 0.78 with 37 strikeouts in 34.2 IP on the season.

BIG INNING BITES STARTERS:

'Hawk starters have had trouble avoiding the big inning this season. They've allowed three or more runs in an inning seven times this season.The starters are 3-5 combined with a 4.27 ERA. All eight of the home runs the RedHawks have allowed this season have come against a starting pitcher.

BRICKTOWN SHOWDOWN:

The Triple-A Championship Game will be played Sept. 18 at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. It will feature the champions of the PCL and IL.
