Fresno Grizzlies News Release

Nashville, Tn.---The Nashville Sounds (10-22) put together a six-run, two-out rally in the bottom of the seventh inning as they defeated the Fresno Grizzlies (17-18) 11-7 on Thursday night at Greer Stadium. Nashville has won two of the first three games of this series.

The game was tied at five entering the seventh, and Fresno right-handed reliever Brett Bochy (1-1) allowed back-to-back singles to second baseman Scotter Gennett and center fielder Josh Prince. After right fielder Cole Garner struck out, Bochy lost first baseman Hunter Morris to a full-count walk, which loaded the bases. Bochy then struck out left fielder Sean Halton for the second out. However, third baseman Stephen Parker walked on four pitches, which forced home Gennett to make it 6-5 Nashville. The Sounds took off from there as catcher Anderson De La Rosa took part in the rally with a bases-clearing double to center to make 9-5 Sounds. Shortstop Blake Davis and pitcher Donovan Hand each followed with RBI singles completing the inning's run-producing hits.

The game got off on a good note for Fresno as first baseman Brett Pill (8, 9) ripped a three-run homer to left field in the first inning. He also had an RBI on a fielder's choice in the seventh and a two-run homer in the ninth. Pill finished with a career-high six RBIs, which ups his professional baseball-best to 43. The six RBIs are the most by a Grizzlies hitter in a single game this year.

Fresno right-handed starter Boof Bonser went four innings. He gave up four hits, four runs (all earned). He walked three and struck out three. He gave up one homer, which was to Parker (4) to right field in the second inning.

Nashville right-handed starter Frankie De La Cruz lasted 5 2/3 innings. He gave up four hits and three runs (all earned). He walked five, struck out two, and gave up one homer.

Hand (2-1) gave up two runs in two innings to earn the win.

Bochy lasted 2/3 of an inning in the losing decision. He issued four hits, six runs (five earned), and two walks while striking out two.

The final game of this scheduled four-game series will be Friday night at Greer Stadium. Right-hander Justin Fitzgerald will make his Triple-A debut for Fresno. He will oppose Nashville right-hander Johnny Hellweg (1-4). Fitzgerald was 3-0 with a 1.06 ERA in six starts at Double-A Richmond this year.

GRIZZLIES PAWS: With the loss on Thursday, this assures the Grizzlies will not win this series. Fresno has not won a season set from Nashville since 2005.

Chris Dominguez (3) hit a pinch-hit homer to lead off the seventh. It was the second pinch-hit homer for Fresno this year. Todd Linden had the other on April 14th at Tucson.

The two-homer game for Pill was his first since August 28th of last year at home against Reno. He joins Juan Perez and Jackson Williams as Grizzlies with two homers in the same contest this year.
