Reno, NV - Johnny Giavotella and Max Ramirez homered and were two of six different players to drive in a run as Omaha upended Reno, 13-1, to gain a doubleheader split Thursday night at Aces Ballpark. The Storm Chasers halted a three-game slide to improve to 17-15 and move to within a game of Memphis in the American Conference North Division. Omaha dropped the first game, 4-2, and was therefore unable to sweep a third twin bill in as many tries this season.

David Lough, who went hitless in four tries in the opener and lost a 16-game hitting streak, wasted no time getting into the hit column in the nightcap by singling on the game's first pitch. Christian Colon followed with a base hit on the next Garrett Mock offering before Giavotella belted his fourth home run of the season to get the visitors on the board just three batters into the game.

The Storm Chasers kept the runs coming in the second, sending 15 batters to the plate, scoring nine times and knocking out Mock in the process. Colon, Xavier Nady, Ramirez and Brett Hayes all singled to drive in a run and Paulo Orlando capped the uprising with a three-run triple. Omaha equaled its' largest scoring frame of the season, first accomplished in the sixth inning at Nashville on April 22. Reno's veteran right-hander absorbed the loss after he surrendered 11 runs, although just six were earned, on eight hits and a pair of walks while recording only five outs.

Everett Teaford made another spot start for Omaha and spun 3 2/3 scoreless innings before reaching his pitch limit. The left-hander allowed four hits, walked one and fanned three before giving way to Francisley Bueno, who finished off the final 3 1/3 frames to earn his first victory of the season. He yielded an unearned run on two hits while notching one strikeout and more importantly, giving the bullpen a much-needed rest after the six-game suspension of Nate Adcock that was handed down earlier in the day.

In the opener, the Aces jumped on Justin Marks for three runs in the first inning, highlighted by run-producing hits by former Omaha first baseman Kila Ka'aihue and Juan Rivera. The Chasers broke through in the fourth against Reno right-hander Chase Anderson on a two-out, two-run double by Irving Falu that trimmed the deficit to 3-2 and gave him four RBI in the series. Reno countered in the bottom of the frame when Taylor Harbin singled with two outs, stole second base and crossed the plate after a Tuffy Gosewisch base hit to account for the final margin.

Marks was tagged for the loss after yielding those four runs on eight hits and a pair of walks without recording a strikeout in his second Triple-A start of the season. The win went to Anderson, who allowed a pair of runs on six hits while walking three and fanning six and turned things over in the seventh to Evan Marshall, who retired all three hitters he faced to earn his second save of the year.

The series concludes Friday night with Omaha left-hander Will Smith taking the mound against Reno right-hander Charles Brewer. Coverage of the game begins at 8:15 pm and can be heard locally on 1180 Zone 2 The Deuce and online at omahastormchasers.com.
