
Dodgers Select Contract of Van Slyke, Moore Joins Topes

The Los Angeles Dodgers purchased the contract of IF Scott Van Slyke today, Friday, May 10. OF Jeremy Moore joins the Isotopes after being activated from the disabled list.
Van Slyke is making his second stint with the Dodgers and his first of 2013. The Missouri native made his Major League debut on May 9, 2012. In 27 games with Los Angeles, he hit .167 (9-for-54) and has two home runs, seven RBI and a stolen base. The 6-foot-5 infielder was selected by the Dodgers in the 14th round of the 2005 First-Year Player draft.
The Isotopes' first baseman led the Pacific Coast League in five offensive categories during his time in Albuquerque this season. He currently is tied for the league lead with nine home runs and ranks first in batting average (.397), total bases (85), on-base percentage (.503) and slugging percentage (.733) in 34 games. He also leads the Topes in doubles (10), RBI (30) and walks (25). The 26-year-old played 30 games at first base, two in right field and one in left with Albuquerque on the year. Van Slyke earned PCL Player of the Week honors for April 4-14, when he hit .500 with four homers and 16 RBI.
Jeremy Moore will join the Isotopes today after not playing last year due to hip surgery. The Louisiana native was signed by the Dodgers as a free agent on December 27, 2012. He holds a .277 Minor League batting average with 75 home runs and hit .298 (127-for-426) in 113 for Triple-A Salt Lake during 2011.
Moore played 15 games during Spring Training this year and hit .321 (9-for-28) with five doubles and three RBI. The 6-foot-1 outfielder was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the sixth round of the 2005 First-Year Player Draft and made his Major League debut with the club in September of 2011.
The Topes conclude their four-game series against the Tucson Padres tonight with an 8:05 PM start. Albuquerque sends RHP Blake Johnson (3-1) to the mound looking to split the series against unbeaten Tucson southpaw Robbie Erlin (3-0). The Isotopes complete the road trip with a four-game set against the Las Vegas 51s and return home for eight games beginning Thursday, May 16 to face the Reno Aces at 6:35 PM.
