RedHawks & Devon Energy to Honor Military Saturday Night

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City RedHawks and Devon Energy have teamed up for the first Hometown Heroes Celebration Night of the season to recognize local service men and women and their families Saturday, May 11, at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

"Military members and their families are uniquely connected to the Oklahoma City community," RedHawks President/General Manager Michael Byrnes said. "We are honored to partner with Devon Energy to have this night dedicated to celebrating our service men and women along with the families who support them."

The RedHawks play the Salt Lake Bees starting at 7:05 p.m. Saturday. Fans can enjoy demonstrations from different military branches, tours of military vehicles, military challenges, and recruiting information in front of the ballpark beginning at 5:30 p.m.

On-field events throughout the evening include a pregame flag release, a swearing-in ceremony of new Air Force recruits, and a welcome home ceremony for recently deployed Airmen from Tinker Air Force Base.

Oklahoma native Colonel Matthew Harris, Commander, 3rd Combat Communications Group will conduct the swear-in ceremony and welcome home recently deployed Airmen. Col. Harris attended Putnam City High School and has been a longtime fan of minor league baseball in Oklahoma City. Kris Barlow, Manager of Operations Procurement at Devon Energy, and an Air Force Captain, will also attend and participate in the evening's events.

"The event is a special opportunity for Devon," Barlow said. "We are proud of our partnership with the RedHawks and are delighted to recognize the sacrifices of our service men and women and their families. We appreciate the contributions they have made, and continue to make, to ensure our freedom."
