
Sounders FC Re-Signs Defender Alex Roldan

SEATTLE, WASH. - Sounders FC today announced that it has re-signed defender Alex Roldan. A First Round MLS SuperDraft selection in 2018, Roldan has 28 career MLS regular season appearances, with two assists. A midfielder in his first two pro seasons, the Seattle University product has switched positions to right fullback for the upcoming 2020 campaign.
"We're excited to bring back Alex for another season in Seattle and see how he does at a new position," said Sounders FC General Manager and President of Soccer Garth Lagerwey. "He has been a great pro these past two seasons, and his experience with our club will allow us to be flexible with him on the field."
Roldan, 23, has appeared in 28 games for Sounders FC over the last two seasons, starting 12 of them. In 1,174 minutes of action since 2018, he has recorded two assists and 14 shots. Roldan has also appeared in 14 games for the club's USL side, making 12 starts and recording 975 minutes and two goals scored. The Pico Rivera, California native attended Seattle University, where he started all 82 games over his four years, finishing his collegiate career with 18 goals and 17 assists.
