Sound Tigers Sign Christiansen To PTO

BRIDGEPORT, CT – The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, have signed Doug Christiansen to a professional tryout contract. Christiansen is expected to join the team and wear number 28 for today's 4:05 p.m. home game versus the Springfield Falcons.

Christiansen, 26, joins the Sound Tigers from the United Hockey League's Danbury Trashers for whom he has posted 20 goals, 26 assists, 46 points and 138 penalty minutes in 64 games this season. The Elm Grove, Wisconsin native, who plays both forward and defense, has also appeared in a pair of games with the AHL's Manchester Monarchs this season posting seven penalty minutes. Christiansen is a third-year professional who has also skated for the ECHL's Charlotte Checkers, Augusta Lynx, Columbia Inferno and Mississippi Sea Wolves. He played four years, 1998-2002, with Union College of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference and two seasons, 1996-98, with the United States Hockey League's Green Bay Gamblers.
