Bridgeport, Conn. – Bridgeport Sound Tigers defenseman Cole Jarrett scored the game-winning goal with 5:18 remaining in regulation as the Springfield Falcons were edged, 2-1, at the Arena at Harbor Yard on Sunday. Left wing Mitch Fritz scored for the Falcons. Springfield finished with a 34-27 shot advantage in the game, but Bridgeport goaltender Wade Dubliewicz, last season's AHL Rookie of the Year, surrendered only the one goal.

Fritz put the Falcons in front 9:05 into the game with by firing a wrist shot from the left face-off circle past Dubliewicz. Rookies Nick Tarnasky and Darren Reid assisted on the goal which was the third of the season for Fritz.

The Sound Tigers responded 2:50 later when left wing Steve Regier tipped a shot by defenseman Chris Campoli into the net for his sixth goal of the campaign.

Springfield outshot Bridgeport, 16-9, during the second period, but could not regain the lead during the frame.

The Falcons nearly scored early in the third period when left wing Nikita Alexeev fed Jason Jaspers for a point-blank chance at the edge of the crease, but Dubliewicz made the save to keep the game deadlocked.

Jarrett tallied the difference maker at the 14:42 mark during a scramble at the side of the Falcons' net. Matt Koalska and Regier recorded assists on the game-winning goal.

The Falcons pulled netminder Jean-Marc Pelletier in the final minute, but could not come up with the equalizer.

Pelletier turned aside 25 of 27 shots in the game.

The Falcons did not score on four power play chances and killed off all three of Bridgeport's man advantages.
