
Sound Tigers Sign Brent Gauvreau To PTO

BRIDGEPORT, CT â The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, have signed Forward Brent Gauvreau to a professional tryout contract. Gauvreau comes to Bridgeport from the ECHL's Mississippi Sea Wolves.
Gauvreau, 23, has 20 goals, 35 assists, 55 points and 38 penalty minutes in 41 games with Mississippi this season. The 6'3'' 210-pound native of Sudbury, Ontario also had an assist for the Western Conference at the ECHL's All-Star game in Peoria, Illinois last week. Gauvreau split last season between the ECHL's Jackson Bandits and Augusta Lynx after spending most of the previous two years with Mississippi. He also played three games with the AHL's Springfield Falcons in 2001-02 and one with them in 2000-01, as well as a pair of games with the AHL's Saint John Flames in 1999-2000 after finishing a four-year junior career, 1996-2000, with the Ontario Hockey League's Oshawa Generals holding that team's career games-played record, including playoffs, with 297. Gauvreau was also a member of Oshawa's 1999-2000 OHL Championship team.
The Sound Tigers will host the Albany River Rats this Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. That game will be web cast live at www.soundtigers.com. They will then visit the Manchester Monarchs next Friday and the Portland Pirates next Saturday. Both of next weekend's road games will be broadcast live on 600 WICC-AM, as well as at www.soundtigers.com
Sound Tigers individual-game tickets are on sale at the Harbor Yard box office Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., Saturday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and on all game days, as well as on-line at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling Ticketmaster at 203-368-1000.
