Sound Tigers Continue Summer Community Blitz

BRIDGEPORT, CT â The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, will make several community appearances this weekend. The Tiger Tunnel will be set up at the YMCA Summer Camp at Jennings School in Fairfield tomorrow, Friday, August 6th, from 10 a.m. until 12 noon. The Team Mascot Storm will be at Captain's Cove in Bridgeport this Saturday at 12 noon to take part in the "Swim Across the Sound" 2004 Swim Marathon. The Sound Tigers will also have a table in the kids' section of the SoNo Arts Festival in South Norwalk from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. this Saturday and 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. this Sunday. In addition to an appearance by Storm, kids can stop by the team table at the SoNo Arts Festival to make their own Sound Tigers bookmark and register to win a Family Four Pack and a Rick DiPietro bobblehead doll.
The Sound Tigers are available year-round for public appearances, speaking engagements, job shadowing, mentoring programs and much more. Groups can also raise funds through the sale of Sound Tigers tickets. Groups, organizations, companies, etc. that are interested in having a member of the Sound Tigers appear at an event are invited to call 203-334-GOAL or email amy@soundtigers.com.
Upcoming events on the Sound Tigers' community calendar also include the Stratford YMCA on August 11th, the Monroe Lions Club on September 8th, the Norwalk Oyster Festival September 10th through 12th, the Derby-Shelton Lions Club on September 14th, the Ridgefield Lions Club on September 28th, the Darien Train Station Boy Scout Fundraiser on October 2nd and 3rd and the American Heart Association Walk at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport on October 3rd.
The Sound Tigers will open the 2004-05 season, their fourth in Bridgeport and fourth as the top affiliate of the Islanders, on Saturday, October 16th at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard.
