
Sens, Pens & Crunch Heat Up Rivalry with Round Robin Pre-Season Tournament

BINGHAMTON, NY - The Binghamton Senators, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and Syracuse Crunch announce today that the 3 teams will kick off a new season of hockey with the inaugural I-81 Puck Cup. The pre-season tournament will involve a total of six games with each team playing a home and away game against the other two teams.
The teams will be playing not only for bragging rights, but also the I-81 Puck Cup trophy, which will be presented to the team that emerges with the most points at the conclusion of the tournament.
"The tournament will spice up our pre-season and give our fans something to cheer about at these games," says Tom Mitchell, executive vice president â operations of the Binghamton Senators. "We have been looking to do something unique in the pre-season and this promises to be fun and is something we hope to make into an annual event."
Following are the dates and times of the round robin tournament games:
Friday October 1st WBS @ SYR 7:30 p.m.
Saturday October 2nd SYR @ BNG 7:05 p.m.
Wednesday October 6th BNG @ SYR 11:00 a.m.
Thursday October 7th SYR @ WBS 7:05 p.m.
Friday October 8th WBS @ BNG 7:05 p.m.
Saturday October 9th BNG @ WBS 7:05 p.m.
Tickets for the round robin tournament games to be played in Binghamton will go on sale on Friday, August 6th at 10 a.m. at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena box office. The tickets will go on sale at all other ticket master outlets on Friday, August 6th at 9 a.m. and can be purchase at the Sens' executive office â 3rd floor of the arena.
Tickets to each game will cost $9.50 and will give the ticket holders general admission to the game. Those who wish to purchase tickets for both pre-season games in Binghamton will receive $1.00 off of the regular price of each ticket.
Groups of 15 or more that wish to purchase tickets to the tournament games will also receive a $1.00 discount per ticket. Group tickets may only be purchased at the Binghamton Senators executive office â 3rd floor of the arena.
In the event that there is a tie at the conclusion of the tournament, the winner of the cup will be determined following the guidelines set forth by the American Hockey League for ties in the standings at the conclusion of the regular season.
In addition to the I-81 Puck Cup, Binghamton will travel to Hershey to take on the Bears in a pre-season game on Sunday, October 3rd. Face-off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. and the game will not be a part of the tournament.
Season tickets for the 2004-05 campaign are now on sale at the Sens' executive office â 3rd floor of the arena. To purchase 2004-05 season tickets, the Sens' office is open during the summer months from 8 a.m. â 5 p.m. and can be reached by calling 722-SENS (7367).
