Kings Agree To One-Year Contracts With Barney And Rullier

MANCHESTER, NH - The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, on Thursday agreed to terms on one-year contracts with left wing Scott Barney and defenseman Joe Rullier. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not announced. Barney, 25, began last season with the Monarchs, recording 34 points (20-14=34) and 28 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-4, 208-pound native of Oshawa, Ontario, also appeared in 19 games for the Kings last season registering 11 points (5-6=11) and four penalty minutes. During the post-season with Manchester, he appeared in six games and recorded five points (3-2=5) with eight penalty minutes.

Originally selected by the Kings in the second-round (29th overall) of the 1997 NHL Entry Draft, Barney has appeared in 24 career NHL games, all with the Kings, and has 11 points (5-6=11) with four penalty minutes.

Rullier, 24, appeared in 73 games with the Monarchs last season recording 16 points (3-13=16) with a team-leading 186 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-3, 198-pound native of Montreal also appeared in six playoff games with Manchester going scoreless with six penalty minutes.

Originally selected by the Kings in the fifth-round (133rd overall) of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, Rullier leads the Monarchs in games played with 197 over three seasons.

The NHL's future stars will all converge on Manchester as the Monarchs host the 2005 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic at the Verizon Wireless Arena on February 13-14, 2005.
