
AHL Penguins Announce Preseason Schedule

WILKES-BARRE, PA. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins will open their five-game preseason schedule on the road when they visit the Syracuse Crunch on Friday, October 1. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. at the War Memorial at Oncenter.
During the preseason, the Penguins will be competing against the Crunch and Binghamton Senators in the first annual "I-81 Puck Cup" Tournament. The preseason tournament, a round-robin challenge, will have each team playing the other two in a home-and-home series. The team with the most points at the end of the tournament will be presented with the inaugural "I-81 Puck Cup" Trophy.
The Penguins will play three preseason games at home and two on the road in preparation for the 2004-05 season. The five preseason games are the most for the Penguins since the 2000-01 season when they finished with 3-2 record.
Following their preseason opener against the Crunch on Oct. 1, the Penguins return to the ice the following day as they host the Hershey Bears at Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza on Saturday, October 2 at 2 p.m.
The Penguins continue their preseason slate on Thursday, October 7 as they host the Crunch at 7:05 p.m. and then complete their 2004 preseason schedule with two games against the Senators. The Penguins will visit Binghamton on Friday, Oct. 8 and then return home to host the Senators in their preseason finale on Saturday (Oct. 9). Both games will start at 7:05 p.m.
The Penguins will open training camp on Monday, September 27. Information regarding training camp will be announced at a later date.
The Penguins will begin their sixth season in the AHL on Wednesday, October 13. The 2004-05 regular season schedule will be announced early next week.
