DURHAM, NC - A three-run lead proved to be enough for the Durham Bulls as they held off the Toledo Mud Hens 3-1 on Wednesday night at the DBAP.

The Bulls (58-43) opened the scoring in the first with back-to-back doubles from Kean Wong and Christian Arroyo, putting the home team in front 1-0.

The one-run lead was extended in the fifth on an RBI single by Brandon Snyder to score Arroyo, after he reached on a fielder's choice earlier in the frame, giving the Bulls a 2-0 lead.

Durham added to its lead in the sixth, as Rob Refsnyder singled to lead off the frame, and later scored on Jason Coats' RBI double to centerfield to extend the lead to 3-1.

The Bulls pitching staff limited Toledo (53-48) to one run on six hits. Lefty Kyle Bird made a spot start, his fourth-career start, and tossed 3.0 innings, struck out three, walked one and allowed one hit.

Andrew Kittredge (W, 4-0) held the Hens scoreless over 3.1 frames, with three strikeouts while allowing three hits.

Hoby Milner made his first appearance since being acquired in a trade from Philadelphia on July 15 and surrendered the only run on a solo home run in the eighth inning by former Bull Mikie Mahtook. Fellow lefty reliever Adam Kolarek (S, 4) closed out the ninth leaving the bases loaded to clinch a Bull City victory 3-1.

The Bulls play the finale of a three-game series on Thursday night against Toledo with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Zach Lee (2-2, 3.89) is scheduled to start for the Bulls opposite Tyler Alexander (2-3, 4.62) of the Mud Hens at the DBAP.
