Pigs Rally in Game One

After a near two-hour rain delay, the Pigs and Stripers battled late into the night at Coca-Cola Park. Training by two in the bottom of the eighth, the Pigs plated three runs to take game one against the Stripers 6-5.

The Pigs offense was carried by the long ball against the Stripers. Down by three in the top of the fourth, Dylan Cozens blasted an opposite field three run home run to tie the game at three.

After the Stripers took a two run lead in the in top of the seventh, Danny Espinosa took reliever Chad Bell (2-2) deep to left field to make it a one run ball game. Joey Meneses extended his hitting streak to 15 games with a single in the fourth and Dean Anna singled up the middle to extend his to 13 games.

De Los Santos lasted just four innings in his shortest outing of the season. He struck out four and allowed four hits in the start. The Stripers scored three runs, two earned against De Los Santos including a two-run home run by Luis Marte to go up 2-0.

De Los Santos limited the damage in the top of the fourth after Gwinnett loaded the bases with no outs. Able to limit the Stripers to just one run on a sacrafice fly by pitcher Luiz Gahora; De Los Santos kept the Pigs in the ball game.

Coming from behind once again, Aaron Altherr doubled to the opposite field to score Collin Cowgill to tie the game at five against Chad Sobotka in the eighth. With the bases loaded and two outs, Zach Green worked a go-ahead walk to give the Pigs a 6-5 lead. Hector Neris (1-0) tossed a scoreless eighth to earn the win and Pedro Beato (26) tossed a perfect ninth to earn the save.

Quick turnaround for the Pigs as them and the Stripers as it is Camp Day Coca-Cola Park! First pitch is scheduled for 11:35. Tom Eshelman takes the ball for the Pigs against the Touki Toussaint.
