March 21, 2014 - ECHL (ECHL)
Orlando Solar Bears News Release
North Charleston, SC - D Bryce Aneloski tied the contest 1-1 just 55 seconds into the third period, but F Jack Downing answered back with two of his own as the Stingrays knocked off the Solar Bears 3-1 at the North Charleston Coliseum on Friday night.
South Carolina collected the only goal of the first period. F Louke Oakley kicked a puck back to F Wayne Simpson after a faceoff in the left circle and Simpson skated all alone into the slot before whipping a wrister into the bottom corner of the net. The Stingrays took the 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
After a scoreless second period, Orlando tied the game in the first minute of the third. During 4-on-4 action, Aneloski took the puck through the neutral zone, stepped over the blue line, and fired the puck inside the right post to even the game at 1-1. The Stingrays answered back at 16:13 as F Peter Boyd lifted a pass from the right wall and Downing one-timed it into the back of the net to push the lead to 2-1. Downing struck again 1:08 later, this time on the power play, when he blasted a shot from the top of the left circle into the top corner of the cage to lift the Stingrays to the 3-1 victory.
