TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: After a week of rest and preparation, the Cyclones are back on the home ice to welcome in the Elmira Jackals for the first a two-game weekend at U.S. Bank Arena. Cincy beat their Big Apple State foes 4-1 last Friday to run their season-series record to 3-2. Since 2006, the Clones have earned an 11-7-0-2 mark against the Jackals in Downtown Cincinnati.
TONIGHT'S PROMOTION: CYCLONES HAT NIGHT: The first 3,000 fans through the gates will receive a limited-edition Cyclones hat!!
SCOUTING THE JACKALS: Dwight Mullins' club got trounced 5-1 by Gwinnett on Monday night - running their record to 22-31-3-5. But while are all but officially eliminated from postseason contention, they still have some dangerous offensive weapons. Mike Vaskivuo leads the Jackals and ranks eighth in the ECHL with 50 points (18 goals, 32 assists) in 54 games. Although he owns a team-worst minus-16 rating, Jordan Pietrus has had a knack of finding the net; he's earned 39 tallies (10 goals, 29 assists) in 61 tilts this season. Goaltender Neil Conway, who dropped his only meeting with Cincinnati last week, has gone 8-5-1-2 this year for Elmira with a 2.44 goals-against average. Fellow netminder Scott Greenham has appeared in 27 ECHL games this season - racking up an 8-15-1-2 record with a 3.21 GAA.
LAST HEAD-TO-HEAD MEETING: MARCH 14, 2014: A first period outburst helped the Cincinnati Cyclones cruise past the Jackals by a 4-1 final score in front of 2,412 at First Arena. Anthony Luciani finished with another multi-point game while the Cyclones posted 40+ shots on net for the fourth consecutive tilt.
Even-Strength Excellence: The Cyclones have found their best success, offensively, when playing even strength this season. They're outscoring their foes by a combined 150-118 when skating five-on-five. Including four-on-four play, Cincy has a 31 goal advantage when playing with equal skaters..
Tempo Setters: Cincinnati has maintained a solid lead over their competitors in terms of offense this season. They pace all ECHL clubs with an average of 3.37 goals scored per game. Cincinnati has scored four goals or more in 27 games this year.
