Las Vegas Wranglers News Release

Las Vegas - The Alaska Aces took down the Las Vegas Wranglers by a final score of 4-1 at Orleans Arena on Thursday night. Wranglers rookie goaltender Travis Fullerton, who ranks second in the ECHL with 1,287 saves made, stopped 38 shots in the defeat, while defenseman Charlie Cook extended his point-streak to four games (2g, 4a) with a goal in the second period.

The Aces would strike first late in the opening period as with just 57 seconds remaining defenseman Corey Syvret scored his first of the year, putting Alaska on top 1-0. Assists on the goal came from Nick Mazzolini (41) and Peter Sivak (46).

Alaska would extend their lead to 2-0 early in the second frame on the power-play, as Alex Belzile snagged his second of the year, assisted by Brett Findlay (27) and Jordan Morrison (23). Las Vegas would bounce right back as defenseman Charlie Cook buried his fourth of the year, assisted by John Armstrong (14) and Shawn Skelly (14) to make it a 2-1 game. For Cook, the goal gives him seven points now over his last seven games (2g, 5a), while Armstrong makes it three points in his last two contests with the assist (0g, 3a).

Alaska though would get two more scores before the period came to a close, extending their lead to 4-1 before the second intermission. Both goals came on the power-play, with Belzile tallying his second on the night, unassisted, and Mazzolini his 22nd of the year, off assists from Syvret (7) and James Martin (14). The three-goal advantage would hold until the end of regulation as neither team would break through in the third period. The Wranglers and Aces will meet three more times this year, all in Las Vegas.

Next up, the Wranglers will be hosting their fourth annual " Regrettable Tattoo Night " on Saturday March, 22 against the Colorado Eagles, featuring the stars of A&E's "Bad Ink," as well as a free post-game concert by Great American Taxi. The three-game home stand then finishes up with a 2:05 matinee game against the Bakersfield Condors and a free post-game skate on Sunday, Mar. 23.
