
Solar Bears Drop First of Season to Thunder, 4-2

GLENS FALLS, N.Y. - The Orlando Solar Bears (3-1-0-0), proud affiliate of the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL's Toronto Marlies, fell to the Adirondack Thunder (5-0-0-0) by a score of 4-2 in front of 1,519 fans Wednesday night at the Glens Falls Civic Center.
Johnny McInnis opened the scoring in the first period while the Solar Bears were on the power play, as Eric Baier sprang McInnis for a breakaway, and McInnis buried his shot past Kent Simpson at 5:03 for his first tally of the season.
Michael Kirkpatrick evened the score for Adirondack at 9:30 after knocking home a rebound past Rob Madore.
The Solar Bears capitalized on another power play in the second frame when Patrick Watling fired a shot past Simpson at 2:32.
Ryan Lomberg knotted the score again for the Thunder at 5:06.
Adirondack took its first lead of the night at 2:00 of the third period when Lomberg deflected Ryan Constant's point shot past Madore for his second of the night, and Rob Bordson added an empty-net goal at 19:50.
Madore made 24 saves on 27 shots in the loss for Orlando; Simpson took the win with 25 saves on 27 shots.
