
Solar Bears Complete Flurry of Moves

Orlando Solar Bears News Release
Orlando, FL - The Orlando Solar Bears, proud affiliate of the NHL's Minnesota Wild and Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL's Iowa Wild and Toronto Marlies, announced today that the Marlies have assigned goaltender Christopher Gibson and defenseman Zach Yuen to Orlando. The Solar Bears have signed G Allen Ruane to a PTO (Professional Tryout Agreement) and he is expected to start tonight in Orlando's preseason contest against the Florida Everblades.
Gibson (6-1, 188 lbs.) was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the second round, #49 overall, in the 2011 NHL Entry draft and has played the last four seasons (2009-13) for the Chicoutimi Sagueneens in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Last season, he played in 41 games posting a 17-18-4 record with four shutouts, a 3.08 GAA, and .902 save percentage. In 2011-12, the Karkkila, Finland, native finished with a .893 save percentage, 2.97 GAA, and three shutouts en route to a 27-17-4 record. He also played two games for Finland in the U20 World Junior Championships. In his QMJHL career, Gibson played in 156 games with a 66-85-0 record, 2.96 GAA, 13 shutouts, and .900 save percentage. He was named to the QMJHL First All-Star Team in 2010-11.
Yuen (6-0, 203 lbs.) was drafted in the fourth round, #119 overall, by the Winnipeg Jets in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He is entering his rookie campaign after spending the last four seasons (2009-13) with the Tri-City Americans in the Western Hockey League (WHL). He also played four games with Tri-City at the tail end of the 2008-09 season. Last year, Yuen led all Tri-City defensemen in assists (35) and points (44) in 71 games. A native of Vancouver, BC, Yuen played in 255 games during his WHL career, recording 118 points on 30 goals and 88 assists.
Gibson and Yuen will join the team late tonight and are expected to appear in the Solar Bears lineup for Saturday's preseason game against the Florida Everblades.
Ruane (6-2, 190 lbs.) attended Solar Bears Free Agent camp on September 12 and is expected to start tonight. The Solar Bears have released G Kris Kavanaugh and D Alex Milley from their PTOs and yesterday completed a trade with the Colorado Eagles, moving Mark Nemec to Colorado in exchange for future considerations.
