The Solar Bears hit the ice tonight for the first time since closing out last season on March 30 in Estero. Tonight's contest marks the first preseason game for each squad. Last season, the Solar Bears skated in two preseason games at the Germain Arena before opening up the regular season with four straight against the Everblades. This year, Orlando and Florida meet twice in preseason action before playing a home-and-home to start the regular season, meeting in Estero Friday, October 18, before the Solar Bears host the Everblades for their Home Opener on Saturday, October 19, at the Amway Center at 7:00 p.m.

Head Coach Vince Williams makes his Solar Bears debut today... Tonight's game marks the first of back-to-back preseason games between the Solar Bears and Everblades... G Allen Ruane, who has been signed to a PTO, is expected to start tonight for the Solar Bears. It will be his first professional appearance... Orlando finished last season with a 7-8-1-0 record against the Everblades... Orlando's preseason roster features nine players who appeared in games for the Solar Bears last season... Solar Bears Assistant Coach Brad Tapper visits the Germain Arena for the first time as a member of an opposition club. He served as Florida's Assistant Coach for the past three seasons... D Alexander Milley and G Kris Kavanagh were released from their PTO's today... D Mark Nemec was traded to the Colorado Eagles for future considerations yesterday.
