Duluth, GA - The Solar Bears scored four answered goals en route to a 5-2 victory over the Gwinnett Gladiators at the Arena at Gwinnett Center on Sunday afternoon. The victory lifted the Solar Bears to a 2-1-0 record on the three game road trip.
For only the second time this season, the Solar Bears notched the first goal of a game while on the road. F Ian Slater snapped a shot on goal, recovered his own rebound on the right wall, and moved a pass to F Scott Tanski in the high slot. First, D Sacha Guimond carried the puck through the neutral zone and blasted a shot past G John Curry to tie the game at 1-1 just 24 seconds into the frame. F Maxime Legault followed it up when he knocked in a rebound at 2:36 to give Gwinnett the lead. F Zach Harrison evened up the game for the Solar Bears 1:19 later when he deflected a shot from F Michael Catenacci to lock the score at 2-2. Harrison would then help force a turnover to Catenacci who picked the top right corner of the net at 5:03 to restore the Solar Bears lead. Orlando doubled their advantage with 3:12 left in the period when F Jacob Cepis stickhandled through the slot and snapped a backhander over the line. The Solar Bears held the 4-2 lead heading into the third.
Forward Tyler Murovich capped off the scoring in the contest when he took a pass from D Blake Kessel and slammed it into the cage to put the Solar Bears ahead 5-2 at 2:55 of the third. G John Curry finished the night with 26 saves as Orlando closed out a three game road trip with the 5-2 victory.
