Wheeling Nailers News Release

WHEELING, WV- The Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Canadiens, have announced a pair of transactions, with both taking effect immediately. Forward Ben Duffy has been loaned to the Nailers by the Hamilton Bulldogs, while forward Scott Zurevinski was returned to Wheeling, after being released from his 25-game professional tryout.

Duffy, 21, had a brief stint with the Nailers earlier this season, when he suited up in three games over the course of Thanksgiving weekend. In the middle contest, Ben netted his first professional goal, as part of a two-goal effort, in a 3-0 victory over Toledo at WesBanco Arena. He added an assist the following day against Cincinnati, giving him five points in his pro career. During his most recent recall, the Lower Sackville, NS native appeared in two games with the Bulldogs, bringing his AHL total to 15 games.

Zurevinski, 25, is coming off of his first AHL stint of the season, as he appeared in three games with Hamilton, registering ten penalty minutes, thanks to a pair of fighting majors. Scott has now appeared in 11 AHL games in his career, having done the majority of his work with the Nailers. Thus far this season, he has appeared in 16 games with Wheeling, totaling three goals, three assists, and six points. Last season, the Saskatoon, SK native broke into the professional ranks, accumulating 12 goals, 13 assists, and 25 points in 49 games.

Ben Duffy and Scott Zurevinski could both be in the lineup on Sunday, when the Wheeling Nailers play host to the Florida Everblades at 3:00.
