Beloit Sky Carp News Release
Behind seven strong innings from starter David Bromberg, the Snappers won their third straight game Friday night by a 6-4 final. Bromberg picked up his ninth win of the year, going seven innings and allowing three runs on five hits and eight strikeouts.
The Snappers got going early with a run in the bottom of the first inning. Chris Cates and Jeanfred Brito started off with ground ball singles to put runners on first and second with nobody out. Andrew Schmiesing then followed with an RBI-single to left-center, scoring Cates from second base. Schmiesing's single made it 1-0 after the first inning.
Burlington came back in the top of the third inning with two runs of their own off starter David Bromberg. RBIs from David Lough and Jason Taylor gave the Bees at 2-1 lead after two and a half.
Beloit then tied the game up at 2-2 with a run in the bottom of the fourth inning, courtesy of Chris Cates. Cates delivered a sac fly to center field, scoring Juan Richardson from third base. Richardson, who earlier singled, tied the game with the run.
The Snappers then took the lead one inning later on a Ramon Santana solo homer to center. Santana's blast made it 3-2 Snappers after five.
The Bees came back to tie the game once again in the top of the seventh inning before the Snappers took control in the bottom half. A two-run triple from Mark Dolenc and a sac fly from Ramon Santana put Beloit back on top, 6-3.
Santos Arias would take it from there, pitching the last two innings and allowing just one run on two hits. Arias struck out three en route to his fourth save of the year and a 6-4 Snapper victory.
David Bromberg picked up his ninth win of the year in his final start and also lowered his ERA to 4.44. David also added to his MWL-leading strikeout total (169 to 177).
Andrew Schmiesing and Juan Richardson each had two hits for the Snappers who improved to 34-33 in the second half.
