Clinton LumberKings News Release
Clinton, IA - The Texas Rangers sent another outstanding arm to the Clinton roster today to help bolster the relief corps for the upcoming playoffs. Right-hander Cody Eppley, the 43rd round selection in this year's draft and a recently-named post-season All-Star in the Arizona League, has joined the LumberKings.
Eppley, 22, went 2-2 with a 2.10 ERA and seven saves in nine attempts for the AZL Rangers, walking just five while striking out 34 in 25.2 innings. Opponents hit just one home run and batted .192 against him.
A starter at Virginia Commonwealth University, Eppley went 6-5 in his final season with the Rams, striking out 63 batters in 91.2 innings. His innings pitched lead the Colonial Athletic Association.
Eppley replaces left-hander Tim Murphy on the roster, who has been sent to the AZL roster. He is expected to join the team in Cedar Rapids tonight as the LumberKings open up their final series of the regular-season against the Kernels.
Clinton has 25 active players on the 25-man roster, with three currently on the disabled list.
