Snappers Sting the Rattlers

Beloit, WI- The Beloit Snappers beat the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, 5-3 on Tuesday night with a huge bottom of the third picking up five runs off of T-Rats starter, David Goforth.

The Timber Rattlers started the game with two blasts out of the ballpark from leadoff hitter Brandon Macias and catcher, Cameron Garfield. The solo home runs gave the T-Rats an early 2-0 lead.

The Snappers answered back with a five -run bottom of the third inning off of Goforth. Nate Roberts drove in the first run for the Snappers when he hit a double scoring A.J. Pettersen, who also doubled. Eddie Rosario doubled to score J.D. Williams and Nate Roberts. Miguel Sano blasted his 23rd homer of the season, scoring Rosario making it 5-2 and tacking on two RBI to what is now his league-leading total of 85.

The Rattlers got back on the scoreboard in the top of the sixth with a solo home run by Cameron Garfield making it 5-3.

Taylor Rogers calmed down after the first inning finishing with six innings, allowing six hits, three runs and one walk, while striking out seven.

Rogers was replaced by Corey Williams, who went 1.2 innings allowing two hits and no runs while walking one and striking out three.

With one out in the top of the eighth, Zach Jones came in to relieve Williams. Jones closed the game for the Snappers allowing no hits and no runs, while striking out two and picking up his third save. Rogers picked up his first win as a Snapper, he is now 1-1.

The Snappers and Timber Rattlers will finish their four-game series tomorrow night at 7:00 PM. On the mound will be Tyler Jones, who is 2-4 with a 5.26 ERA in 53 innings pitched. Jones will face off against the Timber Rattlers', Eric Semmelhack, who is also a Milwaukee native. Tomorrow is College and Dollar Night at Pohlman Field, where any fan showing a valid college ID can get into the game for just $1.00.
