
Captains Walk off Winners in 13 Innings

Lake County Captains News Release
(Eastlake, OH) - The Lake County Captains (23-20, 54-58) defeated the South Bend Silver Hawks (22-21, 57-56) by a final of 4-3 in 13 innings. Jordan Smith hit a two out infield single to score Mark Bradley in the bottom half of the 13th to ensure the Captains victory. Lake County now has a one game lead over South Bend in the Wild Card Race.
South Bend scored a run in the top of the fourth inning to open the scoring. After a bunt single and two outs were recorded, Ryan Court walked. Kerry Jenkins singled to left field and Raul Navarro (who bunted) scored and it was 1-0 South Bend.
The Silver Hawks added a run in the fifth, Bryan Henry walked and stole second base to begin the inning. Niko Gallego singled Henry to third base and Henry scored on a groundout by Chris Ellison and the score was 2-0 South Bend.
Lake County scored in the bottom half of the fifth inning. The Captains got three hits in the inning by Jose Ramirez, Francisco Lindor and Jordan Smith. Smith's single was a softly hit ball off the end of the bat. Roidany Aguila (the catcher for South Bend) picked the ball up and over threw first base. Jose Ramirez scored on the error and the lead was cut to 2-1.
South Bend added an insurance run in the top half of the sixth inning. Ryan Court doubled to left field and moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Bryan Henry and that made the score 3-1 heading to the bottom of the sixth
Lake County tied the ballgame in the bottom of the ninth inning. With the bases loaded and one out Jordan Smith hit a groundball to shortstop; which scored a run and cut the lead to 3-2. Jerrud Sabourin singled home the tying run pushing the game to extra innings.
RHP Mason Radeke (5-5) got the start for Lake County and did not get the decision. He pitched five innings, allowing three hits. Radeke also allowed two earned runs, three walks and he has struck out seven. The Captains used a total of four pitchers including the winning pitcher Nick Pasquale (2-0, 0.90)
LHP Keith Hessler (1-1) started the ballgame for the Silver Hawks and did not get a decision. Hessler pitched five innings allowing five hits, and one un-earned run. He walked two and fanned four. South Bend used a total of six pitchers including the losing pitcher Kaleb Fleck (2-2, 1.69).
Tuesday is a special 1 PM start and it will be another Bark in the Park, presented by Home Savings. Dog owners can bring their dogs to the park when they purchase a $5 pooch pass. A portion of the proceeds from the pooch passes will benefit Lake Humane Society & Adoption Center. Dog owners can purchase their tickets for a special $7 price.It is Boys and Girls Clubs Day on Tuesday and many local Boys and Girls clubs will be in attendance for the special day game.
