Snappers Offense Sputters in Home Opener
April 11, 2010 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Beloit Sky Carp News Release
The Beloit Snappers opened up the 2010 home schedule on a sour note as the Peoria Chiefs blanked the Snappers 2-0 Sunday afternoon.
The Chiefs got on the score board in the first inning as Jose Valdez scored on a single by Greg Rohan. Valdez had reached home on an infield single and a two base throwing error that moved him to third. Later in the game the Chiefs would add an insurance run in the sixth to make 2-0.
Starting pitcher Brad Stillings took the loss as he went five innings and gave up one earned run and allowed one hit. Even with the loss, Stillings is the "Brodie Trophy Player of the Game."
The Snappers look to bounce back Monday night at Pohlman Field as Tom Stuifbergen will take the mound for the Snappers in his first start of the season. It'll be Monster Deal Monday as fans can get two general admission tickets, two hot dogs, two sodas, two popcorns and two adjustable home or retro hats for $22.00.
