Beloit Sky Carp News Release
Two early runs were all the Snappers could muster Thursday night, as they dropped game four of a four-game series with the Clinton LumberKings, 4-2. Starter Daniel Berlind picked up his third loss of the season, going 4.1 innings and allowing three runs off five hits.
Beloit jumped ahead in the bottom of the first inning on an error from Clinton second baseman Renny Osuna. Renny's error on a Garrett Olson ground ball allowed Ben Revere, who earlier doubled, to score. Revere's run put the Snaps ahead 1-0 after one.
The Snappers got another run in the bottom of the second inning on a Ben Petsch RBI-single to right. Petsch's single allowed Joe Benson, who led off with a double, to score and put Beloit ahead 2-0.
That would be all she wrote for the Snappers however, as the LumberKings scored the rest of the runs for the game.
Clinton got three in the fifth and one more in the ninth to go ahead 4-2 heading into the bottom of the ninth. Beloit would then try to rally against Clinton closer Denis Sattler.
Sattler proceeded to dodge a leadoff single from pinch-hitter Chris Cates and retire the next three Snappers to close the door.
Ben Revere and Ben Petsch each had two hits for the Snappers, who dropped to 19-20 on the year. Clinton leaves Beloit with a 26-10 overall record.
