Burlington Bees News Release

Appleton, WI (May 15, 2008) - The Burlington Bees lost their third game in a row Thursday night as they lost 7-2 in the final game of a four-game series at Wisconsin. With the win, the Timber Rattlers took three out of four from the Bees.

The Bees scored the first run of the game for the second day in a row. In the top of the first inning with one out, David Lough hit a triple. With two outs, Jason Taylor hit a single to score Lough and give the Bees a 1-0 lead.

The lead was very short-lived for the Bees. In the bottom of the first inning, the Timber Rattlers scored three runs. The first two runs were scored before a single out was recorded. The third run scored on a sacrifice fly, which was the first out of the inning. The Timber Rattlers added runs in both the fourth and sixth innings to extend their lead to four runs.

Down 5-1 going into the bottom of the seventh inning, the Bees did get one run back. Taylor led the inning off by being hit by a pitch and then stole both second and third base. Taylor then scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Wilson Tucker to cut the Timber Rattlers lead to three runs. That was as close as the Bees would get as they allowed two more runs in the bottom of the eighth and lost 7-2.

Alwin Perez was the only Bee with more than one hit as he went 2-3. As a team, the Bees only had five hits. Ed Cegarra took the loss to move to 1-4 on the season after pitching six innings allowing five runs, only four of which were earned, on six hits with seven strikeouts and one walk.

The Bees open up a seven-day home stand Friday night at Community Field. The Quad Cities River Bandits will be in Burlington for three games this weekend. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 with Joe Augustine getting the start for the Bees. The game can be heard on 1490 KBUR and online at www.GoBees.com.
