Snappers Cruise To 8-1 Win Over River Bandits

The Beloit Snappers (40-46) rolled to an easy 8-1 win over the Quad Cities River Bandits (57-27) on Wednesday night thanks to another dazzling start from Antonio Velez. He tossed his second straight seven-inning shutout performance.

The Snappers didn't log a hit until the fourth inning, but they got a pair of RBI singles from Thomas Jones and Troy Johnston to take a 2-0 lead. Beloit added three more runs in the top of the fifth inning to take a 5-0 lead.

Meanwhile, Velez was throwing well on the mound. Velez struck out just two batters but allowed just four hits in seven scoreless innings.

The offense continued to click for Beloit. The Snappers got a two-out two-run home run from Kameron Misner to go up 7-0. Each team logged a run in the ninth inning, and Eli Villalobos struck out River Bandits' outfielder Tucker Bradley to finish off the 8-1 win to even the series.

Beloit's Top Performers: Velez threw his fifth straight quality start to earn his fifth win of the season. Misner hit his ninth homer of the season to extend his hit streak to 13 games, the second-longest streak by any Snapper this season. Johnston reached three times with a pair of singles and a walk.
