Beloit Sky Carp News Release
The Beloit Snappers remain on a roll starting off the second half of the season after a come from behind victory against the Clinton LumberKings defeating them 8-5 last night in Clinton.
The LumberKings started off strong scoring in the first three innings to put five runs on the board. However, the Snappers found their groove in the top of the fourth after two consecutive singles by Deibinson Romero and Chris Parmelee followed by a double created off the powerful bat of Joe Benson, which would bring in Deibinson Romero for the first of eight Snapper runs. Things kept rolling for the Snappers in the top of the fourth as Chris Parmelee would score off an Ozzie Lewis sacrifice fly, bringing the score to 5-3 LumberKings. The Snappers scored another as Joe Benson crossed home on another sac fly by Marc Dolenc.
A combination of great pitching and defense made the bottom of the fourth an easy three batter outs. The Snappers offensive explosion fizzled off in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings as the score remained 5-3 in the LumberKings favor.
Eric Santiago got things going again for the Snappers in the top of the eighth by singling to left field. The game kept falling in favor for a Snappers comeback as Chris Cates made it to first base on a throwing error by the Lumber Kings third baseman. Chris Parmelee would cross home again and bring Santiago and Cates with him after a homerun to right field. That put the Snappers ahead by one with one out in the top of the eighth. Joe Benson would again have another hit in the game to go 3 for 5, with a single to left field. Ozzie Lewis would follow the trend of reaching base by yet another LumberKings error. The Snappers would load the bases after Allan de San Miguel was hit by a pitch. The final two runs would score by an Estarlin De Los Santos line drive single to center.
The Snappers would replace Loek Van Mil, who is now 2-0 with a 2.31 ERA, with Chris Anderson who would get the last out of the game and the save.
The Snappers remain undefeated and stand at 5-0 to start off the second half of the season. Beloit remains at Clinton for three more games before returning home to take on the Cedar Rapid Kernels on Friday June 27th at 7pm.
