West Michigan Whitecaps News Release
COMSTOCK PARK, MI - The West Michigan Whitecaps, in conjunction with the Detroit Tigers, announced today that outfielder Hayden Parrott will rejoin the Whitecaps after placing Andy Dirks on the disabled list with a broken hand.
Dirks, the Tigers eighth round draft pick from the 2008 draft, was injured during Sunday's game in South Bend diving to catch the ball in the outfield. He was making his professional debut with West Michigan and went 1-for-10 in just three games.
Parrott spent a brief time with the Whitecaps earlier this month after being called up from extended spring training to replace OF Casper Wells after his promotion to Double-A Erie. Parrott hit .571 (4-for-7) with three RBI in two games with the âCaps. He was sent to short-season Oneonta last week and batted .300 (9-for-30) with one home run and eight RBI in seven games with the O-Tigers.
