South Bend Silver Hawks News Release
South Bend - After responding to the Beloit Snappers 10-3 victory in game one, Cody Evans and the Silver Hawks pitched a shutout to get back in the win column, with a 2-0 win Tuesday night. Wednesday, the favor was returned as the Hawks managed four hits in a 4-0 loss to Beloit.
Snappers starter Ryan Mullins received all the offensive help he needed from the first batter in the first inning. Edward Ovalle opened the game with a home run over the right field wall putting Beloit up 1-0.
Beloit put up solo runs in the second, fifth and eighth innings, but for the second consecutive game the story was the starting pitching.
Ryan Mullins (2-3), who had not won a game since he defeated the Swing of the Quad Cities on April 25, threw his first complete game of the season. His previous high in innings pitched this year was 7.2 innings on May 23 in a loss to the Peoria Chiefs.
The Silver Hawks (43-37, 10-4) complete their four game set against the Beloit Snappers Thursday night with first pitch slated for 7 PM. Wednesday is Triple Play Thursday sponsored by 103.9 The Bear. Reserved seat can be purchased for $3 and fans can purchase Michelob Ultra in the Budweiser Bullpen Bar and Grille for $3 as well.
