SALT LAKE CITY - The Salt Lake City Stars (3-6), the official NBA G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, split their home and home series against the Oklahoma City Blue (3-9) (Oklahoma City Thunder Affiliate) with a 139-129 loss Friday night at the Maverik Center.
The Stars offense was led by Utah Jazz assignment player Brice Sensabaugh, who scored 27 points for the second consecutive game, on five-of-eight from beyond the arc. Utah Jazz two-way guard Johnny Juzang, scored 18 points and snared four boards in his second straight start. Utah Jazz two-way center Micah Potter, secured a double-double on 17-points paired with 11 rebounds, adding two blocked shots on the night. Meanwhile, Utah Jazz two-way guard Jason Preston, picked up his second double-double as a Salt Lake City Star, with 12 points and 12 assists.
Salt Lake City started hot, shooting .590 as they jumped to a 38-33 lead over the Blue, thanks to the help of Sensabaugh's 14-points in just one quarter of play. The Blue responded with a 12-2 run to open the second quarter. By halftime, Oklahoma City had outscored Salt Lake City 37-18 and led 70-56.
The Stars offense responded in the third, putting up 33 points on .550 shooting. However, the deficit grew to as large as 21 as the Blue shot .580 from the field. Thanks to a 40-point fourth quarter, Salt Lake City cut the deficit to single digits several times in the fourth, but Oklahoma City held tight on the lead, earning the final victory 139-129.
Oklahoma City Blue guard Jahmi'us Ramsey, led the team once again with 27 points, seven rebounds, and six assists, in 33 minutes off the bench. Blue guard Jaden Shackleford, added 25 points, on 6-of-12 from three, serving an additional two rebounds for Oklahoma City.
Salt Lake City returns to action Monday at the Maverik Center as they welcome in the Austin Spurs (San Antonio Spurs Affiliate). The contest tips off at 7:00 p.m. MT and will be broadcast LIVE on JAZZ+ and NBAGLeague.com.
